A smokey retreat
The Build Firm, in partnership with Waterleaf Designs, transformed an unused walk-street front room into a custom luxury man cave. Fully sealed interior doors and a dedicated powered exhaust system create a private, comfortable retreat separated from the rest of the home. Custom bi-fold doors open the space to a fire pit lounge with ample seating for friends and year-round outdoor living. This renovation showcases our commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, intentional design, and modern residential remodeling.
A home away from home
The Build Firm partnered with the homeowners to transform their newly purchased Manhattan Beach vacation home into a modern coastal retreat that rivals their primary residence in Arizona. The fully enclosed staircase was opened to create a dramatic sense of volume on the third-floor living space, complemented by a custom full-wall fireplace that anchors the home’s new contemporary aesthetic. A spanning La Cantina door now connects the interior to an extended deck with sweeping views of the Manhattan Beach Pier and Palos Verdes Peninsula. Alongside three completely remodeled bathrooms, the result is a refined getaway designed for comfort, style, and effortless coastal living.
A lasting legacy
The Build Firm partnered with Leslie Paugh Designs to transform this Manhattan Beach walk-street home into a more open, functional space tailored for a mother–daughter duo. The centrally enclosed kitchen was structurally opened and expanded wall-to-wall, featuring a custom wet bar, china hutch, and a six-by-ten quartzite island that anchors the home’s new flow. A 13-foot front slider now blends the garden-filled walk-street patio with the interior, while the removal of a secondary bathroom allowed for a spacious walk-in butler’s pantry. Completing this downstairs remodel, a fully reimagined bathroom with a curbless shower and a thoughtfully designed laundry room deliver the comfort, storage, and accessibility needed for years of comfortable living.
